Seller verification
To build trust between sellers and buyers and maintain a secure marketplace, Tradeit requires all vendors to complete a seller verification process before unlocking full selling privileges. This process is quick, easy, and helps reassure customers that they are dealing with a real Zimbabwean business or individual.
This guide explains everything you need to know about seller verification, what documents you need, and how to submit them using your Tradeit vendor dashboard.
🔒 Why Seller Verification Is Important
Seller verification:
- Proves your identity or business legitimacy
- Helps protect buyers from fraud
- Unlocks key features such as:
- Publishing products live
- Receiving payments
- Access to Tradeit’s last-mile delivery service
⚠️ Unverified sellers will have limited visibility and may not receive orders until verification is complete.
📝 What You’ll Need to Verify Your Seller Account
Depending on whether you are an individual seller or a registered business, Tradeit accepts different documents.
🔹 For Individual Sellers (Zimbabwean residents)
- National ID or valid passport
- Proof of residence (ZESA/water bill or affidavit)
- Phone number (EcoCash or WhatsApp-enabled)
- Bank or mobile money account details for payouts
🔹 For Businesses (Companies, SMEs, Informal Traders)
- Company registration certificate (CR14 or equivalent)
- Tax clearance (optional, but recommended)
- Director/owner ID
- Proof of address for business premises

⏱️ How Long Does It Take?
- Review typically takes 1–2 business days
- You’ll receive an email or dashboard notification once your account is verified
🕒 During peak registration periods, allow up to 3 days.
❌ What Happens If You’re Not Verified?
Until you’re verified:
- Your products may not be publicly visible
- You may not receive payouts for completed orders
- Some modules like Shipping, Returns, and Promotions will be restricted
🧾 Sample Verification Submission – Example
Let’s say Tariro, an informal trader from Mbare, Harare, wants to sell handmade baskets on Tradeit:
- She logs into her vendor dashboard and goes to Settings → Verification
- She fills out her full name, phone number, and uploads:
- A copy of her Zimbabwean ID
- A photo of her ZESA bill
- Her EcoCash number for payments
- She clicks Submit
- Two days later, she receives an email confirming that her store is verified and now visible on the platform.
🔁 Can I Update My Verification Details Later?
Yes. If your details change (e.g., new address or bank), return to the Verification tab, upload the new documents, and resubmit.
